English: Nether Denton Roman Fort is the site of a Roman fort on the Stanegate road, around 1/2 mile (1 km) south of Hadrian's Wall. Its Roman name is unknown. It is about about 2 miles (3 km) southwest of Birdoswald Fort (Banna). Aerial photography has revealed a large camp lying beneath two smaller fortifications. By the 12th Century a church dedicated to St Cuthbert was built here.
